Home to Seattle on the way to Homer

Day 1: 1,500 Miles in and Ready to Start!

The day is finally here! We are heading to the ferry in Bellingham, WA to hop on the Alaska Marine Highway System. I hope to provide more information and pictures soon, but the Kennicott ferry does not have many amenities or connectivity. We will be departing around 6 PM, following the check-in and loading process.

We will then travel up to Homer. If all goes well, we will arrive in 5 days, 20 hours, and 30 minutes on the afternoon of August 11th at 2:30 PM. I want to thank everyone who made this trip possible, especially my wife Beth for her support in my seemingly crazy adventures. Our kids, Nya and Sophia, graciously let me miss their first and last day of school, as they began their 5th and 8th grade, respectively. The folks along the way who took us in, fed and housed us! Lastly, but not least, I want to thank Bill for joining me on this crazy adventure.

There will be much more to share along the way. I will also track the ferry up the inner passage, and the ride should be trackable along the way at https://share.garmin.com/AdventureHermit.

However, until we arrive, there may not be many updates. In the meantime, I will capture what I see, and be sure to share as connectivity allows.

Thanks for joining me on this journey!
